Catherine H. Bene, M. D.


Doctor Catherine H. Bene is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who possesses more than two decades of highly specialized skill and experience in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases and injuries to the eye.

A life-long resident of York County, Dr. Bene graduated from Eastern York High School, Franklin & Marshall College and the Temple University School of Medicine.  She did her Internship at York Hospital before undertaking her Residency in Ophthalmology at Temple University Hospital.  Dr. Bene worked at St. Judes Hospital (Memphis, TN) on a Research Fellowship and briefly worked as a general Ophthalmologist in Lexington, KY.  She then advanced her skill and training with a Fellowship in Retina at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.  Dr. Bene returned to her native York County in 1985 to begin her advanced and highly specialized practice as a retinal eye surgeon.

In addition to her Board Certification in Ophthalmology, Dr. Bene maintains her licenses as a physician in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Kentucky.  Dr. Bene is a long-time member of the prestigious Philadelphia College of Physicians, a member of the North American Society of Retinal Specialists, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
